Ethics & Business Practices
Our Core Philosophy: Integrity as the Foundation of Play
At Creative Recreational Systems, Inc. (CRS), we believe that the true measure of a company is not just what it builds, but how it conducts itself when no one is watching. For over 50 years, we have operated on a simple premise: trust is our most valuable asset.
Our business is built on long-term partnerships with schools, municipalities, and communities—relationships that require absolute confidence in our financial transparency, operational safety, and moral character. This Code of Ethics serves as our operating system, guiding every decision from the manufacturing floor to the boardroom.

Request a Quote1. Professional Integrity & Anti-Corruption
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for unethical conduct in all business dealings, particularly when managing public funds.
Conflict of Interest:
CRS employees and representatives are strictly prohibited from engaging in any activity that conflicts with the best interests of our clients. We do not offer, solicit, or accept kickbacks, bribes, or undisclosed commissions to influence procurement decisions.
Public Sector Compliance:
We recognize that many of our projects are funded by taxpayer dollars. We adhere to all federal, state, and local procurement laws, ensuring fair competition and open bidding processes. We provide detailed, audit-ready documentation for all grant-funded projects to ensure total accountability.
Ethical Marketing:
Our marketing reflects reality. We pledge to "Truth in Representation," meaning our renderings, proposals, and sales materials accurately depict the products and services we deliver. We do not use deceptive imagery or make unsubstantiated claims about our products' capabilities or availability.
2. Radical Transparency in Pricing & Contracts
The commercial playground industry can be complex, but our pricing shouldn’t be. We respect our clients’ budgets by maintaining complete financial clarity.
"No Surprise" Pricing:
We provide comprehensive, itemized quotes that clearly delineate equipment costs, freight, taxes, and installation fees. We do not hide costs in "bundled" services or add last-minute "administrative fees" after a contract is signed.
Contract Clarity:
Our contracts are written in plain language to prevent scope creep. We clearly define responsibilities regarding site preparation, unloading, and permitting so that clients understand their role and ours before work begins.
Consultative Sales Approach:
We view ourselves as consultants, not just vendors. If a client’s budget or site constraints make a certain design unfeasible, we will say so immediately rather than selling a solution that cannot be delivered. Our goal is a successful project, not just a signed purchase order.
3. Safety as a Moral Imperative
Safety is not merely a legal requirement; it is our primary ethical duty. We refuse to compromise on the wellbeing of children for profit.
CPSI Code of Conduct:
Our on-staff Certified Playground Safety Inspectors (CPSI) adhere to the National Recreation and Park Association’s (NRPA) Code of Professional Conduct. We pledge to never conduct a safety audit with the intent to discredit a competitor or artificially generate sales. Our inspections are objective, factual, and focused solely on risk reduction.
Compliance Verification:
We only supply equipment that meets or exceeds ASTM F1487 (Public Use Playground Equipment) and CPSC guidelines. We verify compliance through IPEMA (International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association) third-party certification, ensuring our products have passed rigorous structural and safety testing.getmulch+1
Inclusivity by Design:
We believe accessibility is a civil right. Ethically, we strive to go beyond minimum ADA compliance to create "inclusive" play spaces that welcome children of all abilities. We will actively advise clients against designs that segregate or exclude users with disabilities.
4. Accountability & Total Quality Management (TQM)
We subscribe to a Total Quality Management philosophy that demands accountability at every stage of the project lifecycle.
General Contractor Responsibility:
Unlike "drop-ship" internet retailers who take no responsibility for installation, CRS often acts as a General Contractor. We vet, hire, and manage professional installation crews, ensuring they carry proper insurance, bonding, and licensing. If a subcontractor fails to perform, CRS steps in to make it right.
Dispute Resolution:
In the event of a disagreement, we commit to fair and prompt resolution. We do not "ghost" clients. Our terms outline clear paths for mediation and arbitration to resolve disputes equitably without unnecessary litigation.
Warranty Integrity:
We honor our warranties. We do not use technicalities to void legitimate claims. If a product fails due to a defect, we facilitate the replacement process, advocating for the client with manufacturers to ensure a swift resolution.
5. Labor Standards & Human Rights
Our ethical footprint extends to the people who build and install our playgrounds.
Domestic & Ethical Sourcing:
We prioritize partnerships with domestic manufacturers who adhere to U.S. labor laws, ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions. We vet our supply chain to ensure no forced labor or exploitative practices are used in the production of our materials.
Workplace Respect:
CRS fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace free from discrimination and harassment. We believe that a respectful internal culture translates into better service for our clients.
Installer Safety:
We require our installation partners to follow OSHA safety guidelines on all job sites. We will not pressure crews to work in unsafe conditions (e.g., severe weather) to meet arbitrary deadlines.
6. Data Privacy & Digital Ethics
In an increasingly digital world, we protect the information entrusted to us.
Client Confidentiality:
We treat all client data—including site plans, security protocols for schools, and financial information—with strict confidentiality. We do not sell client lists to third-party marketers.
Secure Transactions:
We invest in robust cybersecurity measures to protect payment information and sensitive business data from unauthorized access or breaches.
At Creative Recreational Systems, Inc., these principles are not just words on a page—they are the promises we keep every day. We build more than playgrounds; we build trust.
