Prioritizing Playgrounds Get Kids Outdoors To Excel

According to a growing body of research, children require at least 60 minutes of daily activity. Recent studies show that children spend 1/3 of their time engaged with sedentary activities that include video games and TV.

A research highlights that only a 34% of the world’s population allow their kids to enjoy outdoor play areas. Most parents worry that sending kids out might result in injuries, which is why they prefer their children to be at home, safe in front of TV screens.

Outdoor play activities contribute towards psychological, physiological and cognitive health of the children, which is why we need to edify parents regarding the importance of play areas and outdoor playground equipment. In addition, there is a crucial need to raise awareness regarding outdoor play activities, as they determine the future health and prosperity of our children.

Schools need to recognize the need for a 60 minute recess that includes all kinds of play activities such as unstructured, structured and active play activities.
